The Institute of Regional Economy and Finance (IREF) was set up in March 2015. The IREF provides a core platform for innovational researches aiming to support the development of Applied Economics and Agricultural Economics and Management in School of Economics. Currently, there are over 10 staff members, 5 of which are full-time researchers. The research areas in the IREF are focused on, but no limited to, Industrial Economic Policy, Rural Financial Innovation, County Economic Development, Poverty Alleviation, Risk Management and Insurance. The goal of the IREF is to become an outstanding research institutes and think tank with great influence in the fields of regional economic development and rural finance in southwestern China.

<span line-height:2;"="" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; list-style: none; border: 0px; font-size: 16px;">Southwest Research Center for Poverty Alleviation and Development (SWRC-PAD) is an institute of Sichuan Agricultural University, approved by Department of Humanities and Social Science of Sichuan Provincial Department of Education. It provides antipoverty research and communication platform and plays consultation role for government. The SWRC-PAD targets to become the most important antipoverty research center in Sichuan as well as the whole southwest China, and talent-cultivation and consultation center. The research focus of the SWRC-PAD includes, but not limited to, Poverty Theory and Policy Design, Ecological Compensation and Antipoverty, Rural Finance and Poverty Alleviation.
